The MacKenzie Walker is a powerful silhouette that connects with many walking golfers. The Walker has everything you need for a grand round of golf with no frills. It has a single padded leather carrying strap, one club divider and two pockets – one for balls and tees and the other for personal items and a jacket.

I enjoy every round with my Original MacKenzie Walker. It weighs about five pounds without clubs so it is fairly light, and I like the balance of the single strap slung over my left shoulder and held against my lower back with my right fore-arm, that soft buttery leather providing a nice massage throughout the round. A full set of clubs will fit in the the eight inch opening, with one divider separating woods and irons.

I saw this bag on another web site and had to do more research on the web to
verify that there are golfers out there with way too much money. Are you serious?
$700 for this thing? Excuse me, for this quality leather thing? There are reasons
good walking bags have stands built in these days. To keep your clubs, head covers,
the bag itself, from lying in wet conditions or other crap. There are reasons most
good walking bags are made of man made materials. Playing in wet weather can and
will, damage leather. There are reasons most good walking bags have at least nine
club dividers. To protect the heads and shafts from damage which can and will, effect
resale or trade down the road. There are reasons most good walking bags cost
at least $500 less than this obviously well marketed piece of Americana Scam!

Thank you for your comment. Since The Walking Golfer and The MacKenzie Golf Bag Company are partners it will come as no surprise that I disagree with you.
While, I am sure some visitors may agree with some or all of your sentiments, others will not. There is a niche in the golfing population, of which I belong, that believe the MacKenzie Walker is a wonderful representation of the simplicity of the game and find it a joy to carry.
Some people buy a $700 hand made leather golf bag that will last forever (and is guaranteed to do so) and others buy a $200 “newest and greatest stand bag” from Asia every couple of years. Americana scam indeed, let’s do the math on that one.
The fact that the MacKenzie Golf Bag Company is still in business after 25 years of not advertising their product in any magazine or big box retailer, but letting word of mouth from satisfied customers create demand, is a testament to what some golfers are looking for in a golf bag. There is a reason why thousands of club pros and golfers carry a Walker – and there is also a reason why thousands of club pros and golfers around the country carry a $225 Llama – because a simple bag is right for their game and it enhances their walking experience.
Why do you need 9 club dividers? That makes no sense to me, what a waste of materials and unnecessary weight. Do you use iron covers to protect the heads of your clubs to improve their trade in value? Do you buy a new set of clubs every year? Now that sounds like a waste of money. Do you really need a stand? I have some friends who love their stands and others who have always carried a stand-less bag. I detest stands because I cannot carry the bag the way I like to, in a manner that puts less stress on my back than the double straps. I also have never had a problem with my leather bag getting damaged from wet conditions – it dries out.
A MacKenzie Walker is not right for everyone, nor is a Llama, but neither is your TRULY well marketed stand bag with all of its gadgets, hoops, clips, pockets and club dividers.
Some of us believe that a simple product that we can carry for as long as we play the game is a good thing – I know, it is Absolutely amazing!
i love the orgniallity and love that brown leather color its like vintage golf keepin it simple how it used to be but i alos do wish it had more compartments and i know that it might not withhold as well as the others do now
I’ve had the small walker ever since i saw a show with peter jacobsen talking about how he got involved with the company because he couldn’t find a quality sunday bag.I couldn’t even find out how or where to buy one back in those days.I stumbled across one on e bay and i’ve had my bag for over 15 years and it’s still beautiful and going strong.These bags can be sent in to the company and any and all types of repairs will be made except re-dying.I can’t stand the nasty nylon colored stand bags that are popular with the kids but i also don’t like my pants hanging on my hips while i play golf in a pair of tennis shoes.It’s the way you approach the game of golf and life in general.My golf shoes are all leather and quite heavy next to the lightweight man made waterproof made in china golf shoes that are so popular today.I bought a pair of reproduction vintage leather head covers that will fit a modern steel driver and a three wood.I paid around $75 for the pair.They were cheap compared to the way i feel when i look at and handle them for over 4 hours a round.You can have your colored nylon logo filled head covers and the ones with all the cute animals.Golf is a game of honor.I like feeling that i’m honoring the game when i’m out on a course.To each his own but no one can touch or stroke or look at a mackenzie walker and not come away impressed.
I’ve owned a MacKenzie Walker for many years ((old canvas version)) & just love it. The quality is better than anything I have ever owned in golf.
Last year I purchased a Sunday Walker from The MacKenzie Golf Bag Co. and couldn’t be happier. Again…the quality is very evident. You can easily see where this bag will last a lifetime.
Todd is 1st Class. Very quick to respond. Very understanding when it comes to concerns you have. He “gets it”. He understands you are about to spend about 4 X what you would normally spend on a walking golf bag and he wants you to be happy. If you aren’t happy…..he isn’t happy.

You guys are all nuts, what a waste of money, my family owns a leather and fine goods store, and the best leather in the world for that size would only cost $100. Buy a nice bag for $100 online and save that money for a nice golf trip. Buying this bag at that price, is the equivelent of a woman spending $750 on a purse that cost $50 to make !!!!

I have used my MacKenzie Bag for about 15 years in the Pacific NW and now in Arizona. It has held up very well and is a quality product. It is fun to carry as it often stimulates conversations about its origin and why it was purchased. There is a certain mystique to the product in that its use is linked to tradition and certainly the Company has used marketing acumen to promote the bag at its current price.
The MacKenzie is a a luxury item and like many luxury items its value and price is not necessarily tied to the actual cost of production or its utility. I suspect that supply and demand may impact the price point. In many respects comparing this bag to a more traditionally designed modern carry bag misses the point. Yogi Berra might say the MacKenzie Walker has different similarities. The Company is certainly not part of a scam. Nobody is being duped, nothing misrepresented. If the Company had told me that the leather came from a virgin Siberian Arctic Otter speared by an Eskimo and I found out later that it really originated from an old Hereford accidently shot by a duck hunter in a pasture near Portland , Oregon then that would be one thing. You have an educated choice to buy or not to buy. In perhaps the words of the late John Lennon, possibly the best golfer in the world who never swung a club, ” try lightening your grip, man. “
In response to TJ, women still buy those expensive purses… People like to own nice things and many enjoy spending money on something that exudes quality and durability. There are countless arguments for and against a MacKenzie golf bag, but this is America and we all have the right to spend our money when and how we like. I’m going to assume there aren’t families out there who go without dinner so Dad can buy a Walker golf bag, so why the passionate detractors?
If a golfer enjoys a quality (albeit expensive) piece of equipment then why shouldn’t that individual invest in that particular item. People buy $300 putters and $500 driver all day long, and if the consumer enjoys the product why should someone else vehemently argue an opposing point-of-view? In addition, buying a MacKenzie bag supports American workers and an American company that prides its self on quality and the happiness of the customers. What could possibly be wrong with that?
I can not currently afford a MacKenzie golf bag. Someday, as a walking golfer who enjoys the traditional aspects of the game, I may look to buy one though. Who cares what my motives are? Why should it matter to someone else what I spend on my own golf equipment?
From an outsiders point of view, as someone new to this website, I hope people would support the American economy and the American worker in an age when so many of our jobs and products are being outsourced to foreign countries for the sake of cost cutting, but at the price of quality. We should have pride in America and the people who still know what it means to be American!

I carried a peter jacobson leather bag for a player at the buick pro am years ago and was very impressed. A caddy can always tell a good bag a mile away. I never saw another one until I went to bandon dunes last year. A very cool looking bag. They are like driving a fine vintage car, they attract a crowd. I am saving my pennies . p.s. mackenzie bags on e-bay , if you can find one are more expensive than buying new. That says a lot about a great product.
I very much approve of “The Walker Gollfer”. I will say one thing that although I am “only” 51 I come from an background where I heard my father and uncles talk about “one day everthing will be manufactured oversees and the the USA economic stautus is declining.” I heard these conversations throughout the 70’s, 80, and 90’s. Nike is one of the most sucessessful companies in the world and manufactures everthing oversees with “non-Nike employees”.
The result is that we enjoy lower prices here in america, however less americans can afford to “outfit” themselves or their family than 2 generations ago and the American upper class that has stock in Nike will benefit. It is an economic fact that anything manufactured in the USA although in most cases resulting in higher prices benefits the economy due to employment stimulation. Let’s face it most consumers’ buy acording to price/value. If a select group wants to pay the price to purchase high quality items MADE IN AMERICA I applaud them.
To say these poorly-balanced, head-heavy, single-strap bags (yes, I have one) are better than my Sun Mountain 3.5 pound, dual-strap, stand bag is ludicrous.
To each his own – I totally disagree. Not sure what you are doing to your MacKenzie Walker to get “bad balance” – they are the best balanced golf bag I have ever carried – single strap or double strap.

Rob, my OMW is one of the most significant treasures in my life. Back 28 years ago I headed off to University and played, and my dad bought himself a MacKenzie (his mom was a Mackenzie). Ten years later he died of cancer at age 56. Six months after he passed , my mom told me that he wanted me to have it.
18 years as the proudest owner of a MacKenzie the world has ever known! I’ll tell you straight, it looks pretty rough, but it’s condition is flawless – not a single rip or tear. The caddies in Scotland loved it! I’ get a few people a year ask if I want them to buy me a new bag. I say nah, this one has some pretty good memories.
I play at Detroit Golf Club, designed by Donald Ross. His brother Alex was the first head pro followed by Horton Smith, the first and third Masters Champ. Everyone smiles when they see my dad’s bag.
This bag is the real deal. I have carried this product for over 20 years. Be sure and get the real thing not some knock off.

Hi Mike,
I like the headcovers a lot. The fairway wood headcovers are really cool and I have quite a few friends with them. The driver headcovers stay on the 460cc heads just fine, but since they are barrel without a sleeve there is a chance that you may get some nicks or scratches on the shaft. I have not had the same issue with fairway wood shafts.

Could you fit a sweater and a little water bottle with your tees and balls in the one pocket of the Mackenzie Sunday walker? I really like the idea of lighter and smaller, but I definitely need a water bottle and you never know when you need a jacket. Thanks.

I have the Original MacKenzie Walker bag and while I am very happy with it I wish I would have gone for the smaller version as I only carry about 10-11 clubs anyway and only need a jacket, 6 balls and some tees.

Have you seen any discoloration on the leather with fertilizers or pesticides? Your buckskin bag is really nice, how is that color holding up with laying it down in the dirt?
I think it is fantastic that quality, handmade products like the Walker are still available. Every “free” (with gym membership, from buying goods at a store, or packaged gift) or cheap golf bag, rucksack, holdall, carry-on or whatever I have had has never lasted more than a few months. This applies to every other item I can think of… frying pans, saucepans, kitchenware, shoes, shirts, all manner of clothing and sports equipment… The simple fact is, “cheap” manufactured goods (usually from China) are a bulk/volume game and generally are not made to last. I am ordering a couple of Walkers as I think a long lasting and well-made product in today’s globalised world is a rarity and something to be treasured.
