Follow Up Review: Nike Xtreme Element Carry Bag (May 2009)
After enjoying a dozen rounds with the Nike Xtreme Element Carry Bag on my back, I can confidently reiterate all of my positive first impressions.
The pole suspension system continues to provide absolutely perfect balance in wielding the bag with one hand and the stand-up support legs deploy easily and solidly time after time. For such a slim design, the bag allows me to house a full set of 14 clubs with surprising ease, even though I frequently carry an oversized driver along with three fairway woods.
The bag is balanced and comfortable. It also seems resistant to excessive wear and tear, with the exception of the silver, perforated foam-like material used to pad and decorate its left dorsal surface. This material was permanently dimpled when I inadvertently left the bag lying on a couple of hard-bound books in the trunk of my car on the way to the course. The blemish is a slight, but annoying mark on an otherwise aesthetically and functionally faultless bag.

Perhaps most importantly, this bag is ultra lite. After dropping a few clubs from my set, before playing a shorter Executive course, I literally jogged between shots without any discomfort in my back or shoulders.
Overall, I would definitely recommend the Nike Xtreme Element Carry Bag to family and friends. It looks great, functions well, and makes cart golf seem somewhat superfluous if not utterly inane.

First Impressions: Nike Xtreme Element Carry Bag (April 2009)
The Nike Xtreme Element Carry Bag is purported to be “The Ultimate Lightweight Performance Carry Bag.”
To back up their claim, Nike point to the bag’s “less than 4-lbs overall weight,” “Double Strap System with Woven Air,” “6 Zippered Pockets,” “Pole Suspension System” and “9-inch top with 5-way divider system.” The basic setup of this carry bag is sound. It provides enough room for 14 clubs while keeping the overall size of the bag at a slim/portable scale. The pockets are well-integrated with the overall bag shape and provide enough space for the essentials.
With regard to comfort, the bag is certainly light enough, and the “Woven Air” straps distribute weight adequately across the shoulders (though the same effect could probably be achieved with a properly fabricated, conventional padding system). My favorite feature is the metal pole exoskeleton, which lends the bag an attractive hour-glass dorsal profile and a steady, balanced, and durable handle by which the bag can be wielded with one hand while deploying the stand-up support legs.
If one is looking for luxury luggage that includes cup holders, ball dispensers, and a wet bar, this bag is probably not the proper choice, but for anyone that likes to carry their sticks and a few bare essentials, the “Xtreme Element Carry Bag” is worth a try.
Overall, the bag is handsome, functional, and comfortable. Now it’s time to see how this stand-up carry bag stands up to the wear and tear of frequent use and mother nature.
