Product Review: adidas Golf FITRx

Follow Up Review

I don’t know whether to have these shoes bronzed or play every round in them because after 40 plus years of golfing, I finally had a hole-in-one wearing the FitRx shoes! As it was on the 17th hole of Summit, my very hilly home course on a windy, cool day, “foot fatigue” obviously was not a factor.  The shoes are comfortable although the fore-foot is still a little tight on my feet so I continue to wear thin socks for every round.

I decided that I would give the FitRx waterproof claims a test for a couple of rounds. On the first day it had rained all morning and continued to do so through our first three holes so the course was wet and soggy, especially the lush rough where I seemed to find myself too often that day. At the end of the round, my feet were totally dry and nice and warm. A few days ago, the forecast said “light rain” so it seemed like a good time to test the FitRx again. Drizzle started on the first hole which got heavier as the round wore on. When the thunder and lightning joined the heavy rain on the 6th tee, we took to a shelter for protection as the rain teemed down. Soon the 5th green looked like a lake and we knew the day was over but we still had to get back to the clubhouse through flooded fairways. The FitRx shoes came through the extreme water test with flying colors, much better than some of my other “stay dry” clothing, as my feet and socks were totally dry.

The FitRx are great shoes, very comfortable to play in on a daily basis and they certainly live up to their waterproof guarantee. Now if only adidas could guarantee a hole-in-one every week………

First Impressions: adidas FITRx Golf Shoes (March 2009)

The FITRx golf shoes are a great looking design that look as stylish on the course as they would on the street. They have the traditional 7 cleat configuration on the sole with clog resistant DTAC cleats to provide strong grip and stability.

My feet are wider than normal so I always worry about fit when I put on a new pair of shoe. However, the FITRx were comfortable throughout the round and very pleasant to walk in. I could sense the 3D fitFOAM inlay form-fitting to my particular feet which only added to the comfort. My socks were relatively thin, without the extra toe padding you find in some golf socks, which was good because the fore-foot was a little tight across the toes. As always with adidas golf shoes, I finished the round with no heel blisters or redness on my feet.

The FITRx provide strong support and reasonable stability. On flat lies, stability was solid while on uneven lies I felt a little bit of unwanted movement but nothing excessive.

The FITRx come with 100% waterproof protection which is backed up by a two year warranty. I’m looking forward to trying them out in wet southern Ontario conditions over the next few weeks and really putting them to the test!

In summary, the FITRx Golf Shoes are another excellent adidas product. I would be happy to play in them anytime and, in my opinion, they are a great value at about $100.
