The Sherpa has a single pocket which makes it great for warm weather golf.

The fingerloop is positioned at the bottom of the bag and the D-Ring is positioned just above the pocket.

Leather tassles have been added to the zippers to provide a thoughtful, functional, and authentic touch.

The 8 inch opening provides ample room for a full set of clubs.

A single divider separates your woods and irons.

As you can see in the photo below, a half set takes up very little space.

It makes you wonder why modern carry bags have so many dividers.

A Water Bottle holder has been attached to the area below the ball pocket.

The sleeve has been designed to accomodate a 27 oz Klean Kanteen Classic water bottle to help you stay hydrated throughout the round.

The clean lines of the Sherpa are unmistakable on a golf course and will immediately identify you as a committed walking golfer.

A MacKenzie badge sits below the handle on every bag, just to confirm that it is the real thing.

The Sherpa, like all MacKenzie products, is hand-made in Portland, OR by skilled stitchers who take tremendous pride in their work.

This bag is not mass produced in a factory on another continent, but constructed by hand, with care, in the United States, which is why we sell each bag with a five year guarantee.

If the nylon tears or if you have stitching or construction issues with the bag, just return it to MacKenzie and it will be repaired for free.

Our goal is to provide you, a fellow walking golfer, with a quality product that can be carried for many years with pride, not replaced on an annual basis due to broken/bent legs, torn fabric, broken zippers, or any of the other problems we all tend to have with “modern” golf bags after a season or two.

The Walking Golfer is excited to partner with The MacKenzie Golf Bag Company, as they have been providing passionate walking golfers with premium product since 1985.

Please remember that 10% of every sale will go to

The First Tee Program.

  1. What does the Sherpa weigh without clubs, balls, etc. ?

  2. Hi John,

The Sherpa should weigh in around 3 lbs with the Llama around 3.5 lbs.

It has been a long time since I weighed one – at the end of the day it is what you put in the bag that matters. Each club, six balls, range finder, etc. adds a pound to your bag. The Llama and Sherpa are very helpful in encouraging a golfer to keep things simple and only carry what really matters.

    Enjoy the walk,

    Rob

  3. Just wondering if a smaller version can be made similar to the the Sunday Walker. I believe the Sunday Walker has a 7 inches diameter opening. Thanks.

  4. Being in the UK, it is advisable to have an umbrella with you at all times. Does this bag have an umbrella holder or do you just put it in with your clubs?

  5. Hi Ben,

The ‘brolly would go in the bag. I never carried an umbrella in Portland which is a similar climate, just had some really good rain gear. I understand that many people like to carry an umbrella though – MacKenzie might be persuaded to customize a bag if a golfer was interested.

  6. Hi Rob,

thanks for the reply. I have now read your article in a different section on the website where you explain the idea of ditching the umbrella. I like it and it does reduce weight somewhat. However I have actually taken a different route on rain. I prefer to have an umbrella and no rain gear. I have made too many bad swings in rain gear and do not find them comfortable at all. The brolly has also saved me in extremely heavy rain which can appear on a sunny day at any moment here in the UK. So I take the umbrella and just get a bit wet when I play a shot. If I could find the perfect rain gear perhaps I would drop the brolly. Anyway the I love companies that will customise for the customer and so I am excited about Mackenzie.

  7. To each his own – no worries there. Rain gear can certainly be cumbersome – when I lived in Portland the challenge was making the umbrella work with gloves and trying not to get soaked when you put down the bag. I quite enjoy playing with a pushcart and brolly holder when it’s raining then it’s easy to hide and keep your clubs dry when you are not hitting a shot. Although sometimes on uphills all the water can roll off the umbrella and onto your back! Cheers
