Product Review: TRUE tour

Posted by Rob Rigg
August 2010

As one of the co-founders of TRUE linkswear I am certainly biased about the comfort, fit and lightweight nature of TRUE tour Golf Shoes. I have never worn a pair of golf shoes that even remotely compare to the TRUE tour in terms of comfort and feel on the course. In fact, I wear them everywhere – running, around town, on a plane, at the office – they feel THAT good on your feet.

The TRUE tour at Chambers Bay

On the course, the TRUEs are closer to the ground than any other performance golf shoe on the market and Ryan Moore believes they have helped him perform very consistently on Tour since he put them in play.

Ryan was so excited about the TRUE linkswear concept that he decided to become a part owner in the company and he is very passionate about the product.

“I’m wearing TRUE linkswear golf shoes because they’re the lightest, most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. I’m a feel player and every part of the way I experience the game of golf, from the teebox through the green depends on having a solid connection with the ground. These shoes provide that connection in a way I’ve never felt before. I was so excited to learn about this golf shoe concept, and when I finally got to wear the shoes for the first time, I knew I wanted to wear them on Tour.”

The TRUEs are built on a barefoot platform which means they have a wide toe box to allow each toe to function individually and they also have maximum surface area contact with the ground which is proven to improve balance and traction. The TPU “ergo-traction” sole has been designed to work with your body during the swing and while walking between shots. Because they are closer to the ground than other golf shoes, TRUE linkswear ensured that the upper was built from 100% Full Grain Waterproof Leather paired with a seam sealed water proof membrane with Outlast lining. The goal was simply 360 degree waterproofing and the feedback thus far has been very positive.

The TRUEs will be available for Pre-Order in late-August 2010 through TRUE linkwear.com and the shoes will arrive in October.

If you are a passionate walking golfer who is looking for comfort while playing Bandon Dunes, Ballyneal, Ballybunion or your home course, then I wholeheartedly believe the TRUEs will be a great fit for you.

Rob,

Where are the True Tour links shoes manufactured?

Thanks,
Scott

Rob Rigg

They are manufactured in China - both the upper and components - and designed domestically.

I’ve had my True’s for a couple of weeks now, and three rounds of golf. I LOVE them. I can’t wait until a women’s style comes out. Was a little conscientious with the wider profile initially, however comfort rules over vanity.

Rob, I really want a pair of size 7 with a red saddle….. any chance in the very near future? My club colors are red and white…. wished the white pair had shipped with red laces…. but was thrilled to get a set of black and white.

Also, am interested in getting replacement insoles…. any chance of that?

True’s are a great quality product.

Rob…

Is there any advertising for The Walking Golfer Society associated with buying the True shoes?

I think it would be a great way to continue generating a walking culture if people who buy these shoes are alerted to this Society as they most likely would agree with the ideals it espouses.

Seems like a win-win to me.

Just a thought.

Is Robert Garrigus wearing True tour?

Rob Rigg

No - I believe he wears a Foot Joy Contour

What shoe do the Trues fit like? Is the fit similar to that of Footjoy?

Rob Rigg

Danny,

More inline with Adidas than FJ. Most people who I have talked to find that FJ fit big - so 10.5 in FJ might be 11 in TRUE (or Adi).

Thanks,

Rob

I wonder if these will come in size 18?

Rob Rigg

Hi UB,

The TRUE tour will be available from 6.5 through 15.

Unfortunately 18 would have to be custom and would involve creating additional molds and an outsole.

Thanks for the question.

These truly are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn – street OR golf!

The grip is exceptional, and much better than any previous “spikeless” shoes I’ve ever worn. They are so low to the ground that you can feel slopes really well.

Best shoes ever!

Just heard Sir Nick say “Maybe if he wins again he can buy some real golf shoes.” Referring to the Trues he is wearing at the Wyndham.
